A Church That Reaches Out

Last week, we saw the Skyline Mandarin service packed out. We had a total of 278 people. The worship was full of passion…a typical Skyline atmosphere,     except that it was in Mandarin! As it was Mother’s Day, Tan Sri Tan Koon Swan shared about his mother, and also his testimony. It was a moving sermon after the Transformation Business Banquet, the night before. Many came to encourage us. There was so much joy! It was amazing to see many bringing their Mandarin-speaking family and friends to church for the first time. It’s as if they had been waiting for this moment to begin! There were two salvations, surely a sign of more souls to come in the days ahead. It was a day to rejoice in, and to remember! Praise God.

What must both congregations do this year? We must fix our eyes on Jesus and reach out to our friends and family around us, both young and old. I sense while the “family” culture of Skyline will welcome people of all ages, the “corporate” standards of excellence in worship, Word and works of kindness, will make it easy for us to invite our friends to church each week. Surely this is the year where God wants to overflow into our lives. Overflow of grace. Overflow of gratitude in serving. Overflow of faith to reach out. Overflow of miracles from prayer.

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen…” (2 Cor 1:20). Did you get this? God wants to manifest His glory through us! When He says “Yes!”, our response must be “Amen!” People may think us overzealous. But the apostle Paul said these words: “If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died (2 Cor 5: 13-14). It is His love that compels us to reach out every time!
