A Feast to Transform

Then Levi gave Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a great number of

tax collectors and others who sat down with them (Luke 5:29)

In less than a week’s time, we shall be sitting with our families and marketplace friends at the Transformation Banquet, where Tan Sri Tan Koon Swan will be sharing about his story of how Jesus found him. It will be an evening of all kinds of workplace people who are hungry to meet God. Have you invited your workplace friends and colleagues yet? Have you invested for eternity? It will be one of the defining outreaches into our city this year, where people who would normally never attend church, will come to hear the good news about Jesus. It’s an opportunity not to be missed! Make sure you get tickets for the evening. It will be an incredible evening of testimony, fellowship and above all, seeing souls won for Jesus. After all, He is the TRUE Guest of Honour!

That’s what Matthew (Levi) the tax collector did after he came to know Jesus. He threw a party and invited all his workplace colleagues to a feast in his house (Luke 5:27-31). It was his valedictory; he would be leaving his job and he wanted his friends to know why he was following Jesus from then on. He wanted them to hear the Rabbi Himself. It was probably the biggest gathering of sinners in the city that night; a shady bunch of non-synagogue attenders having the time of their lives! It really got the Scribes all worked up; incensed that Jesus would party with such irascible characters!

But Jesus was fully at home. He had come to bring those at the feast to personal repentance and ultimately, spiritual transformation. That’s His call today. That’s why we must have a “Matthew (Levi) spirit” to invite our friends and loved ones to the banquet! Don’t ever look at it with a “religious” eye of fear, or doubt, or of embarrassment. God can, and will use you to touch lives! All you have to do is to invite. This is the season to pray, step out, invite and come! Forget the mockery of the Scribes and cynics. They have “no need’ of a physician. Jesus is inviting your workplace friends and families!
