Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits (Psalm 103:1-2)
Welcome to our final service of the year. What a year it’s been! This has been the Year of the Overflowing Life. How has it been for you? Are you continuing to live from an Overflow of Grace? Have you served from an overflow of Gratitude? Did you step out to share the Gospel from an overflow of Faith? What about praying from an overflow of Miracles? Did you experience His presence even more deeply in the darkest moments of your life? When we began the year, we knew there were many challenges, and yet, we have seen God make highways in the wilderness and cause the desert to bloom and rejoice (Isaiah 35:1-2)! I stand simply amazed at His overflowing grace.
When we look back, we must always assess things spiritually first. Have you grown closer to Jesus, to experience Him deeply, to love Him more? Are you aware of His goodness and His power in life’s storms? Have you learned to walk more by faith than sight? If your answer is yes, then you have grown in tapping into the overflow. Next, we measure how much we have grown personally. Have you grown to be more like Him? In authenticity, brokenness and courage? Do the fruits of the Spirit mark your life in ever increasing measure? Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, faith, meekness and self-control. Is He Lord or is He just a means to get what you want? If you have lived the surrendered life, then you will have a deep sense of “restedness”. Not all relationships may have mended, but you followed God’s way and done your part.
Finally, we look back organisationally. That’s when we look at our work, our habits, our achievements and our church. When we get the first two areas right (the Spiritual and the Personal), then the third will be a natural overflow from His grace, through the passion of our hearts and the work of our hands. This morning, you will hear of some of the mighty works God has done in our midst. Of lives touched. Miracles that took place and families transformed. What a Year! What a Saviour!
