Faith Story by Angeline Oh
I am writing this from Penang. Before coming here, since 2016, I worked in full time in the education sector as a consultant and program activator in various schools in Kota Kinabalu.
Then in early 2019, at the peak of my career, I heard from God that I should be financially ready for year 2020. So, in obedience, I started saving for the following year, even though I wasn’t sure why.
A day before New Year, I experienced great uncertainties and anxieties for 2020. I prayed and sought the Lord for guidance. Then I was filled with peace. God wanted me to trust in Him; He wanted me to rest until He called me to act for new work.
True enough, when the pandemic hit and MCO started in March, I realized my savings was just right for this season of unemployment. All the work in school had stopped, and this situation would probably continue for a couple of years more.
I continued to seek the Lord, and I was comforted that He would bring me to a better place – He opened an opportunity, a door to return to education as a full time teacher in a school here in Penang. The offer came in March and I started working in September.
Initially I wasn’t sure whether to take this offer, but I prayed to God for confirmation. He showed me three signs just a week before I left Kota Kinabalu. I no longer had doubts that He wanted me to make the move! Leaving Sabah was at first difficult. Then I heard a testimony. I felt at peace, knowing I would still be able to come back to Kota Kinabalu in the future.
I thank God for placing people to help me so that the process of transition to Penang went smoothly. He provided everything in time for all my needs. The school gave me an allowance in advance to cover my flight and more. An aunt helped me to find housing. A friend to helped me settle into the new job at the school.
Philippians 2:18 says ‘For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose’. If I haven’t walked by faith and obeyed, I don’t think I would have received and experienced His blessing.
