Faith Story by Sonia Ling
On 7 May 2019, I was rushed to the hospital due to severe abdominal pain. God gave me peace before going under the knife. The Doctors performed surgery and took out the unhealthy part of my intestine. After getting 18 stitches, I was monitored from time to time by nurses. Many angels (friends and family) visited and prayed for healing over me. I asked God to give me mercy to answer their questions about my illnesses. I felt so much pain despite having been given morphine. Feeling hopeless and weak, I asked God to quickly heal me every second every hour of everyday, “Please God, take this pain away.”
It took one month for my surgical site to heal, but there was still lingering pain that would come and go around my abdomen. I thought that there something was wrong with me. I begin to spiral down with negative thoughts.
On the 31st of August 2019, my connect group leaders (Xin Wei & Eunice) encouraged me to serve in a 2-day-1-night community service at a hostel in Kudat. I half-heartedly agreed, hoping that it would keep my mind off all the pain I was going through.
Sometimes, the enemy comes and sabotages our minds, making us feel less than what our Father in heaven did to save us. We need to learn to trust again, and to have faith, believing He is at work, even behind the scenes.
After the community service event, I found that the on-and-off pain that I had been experiencing for four months had completely disappeared! Doctors had said that it will take six months to fully recover, but I was completely healed in just four months. Thank You Father for answering my prayers, turning my sadness and sorrow into joy. For I was weak, only to be made stronger again. I was hopeless, but am now hopelessly devoted to Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior!
“And I tell you, ask and it will be given to you;
Seek and you will find;
Knock and it will be opened to you;
For everyone who asks receives,
and the one who seeks finds,
and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”
Luke 11:9-10
