Faith Story by Ong Xin Wei
I stepped foot into Sabah in 2013 as a young doctor and Skyline has been my home since. I distinctly remember after serving in the district and coming back to KK city in 2017, I started attending Church in Prayer at 6 (CP6). During CP6, among other things, I would always write two items to be put it in the prayer bowl.
- God to tell me what He wants me to do and where He wants me to go.
- Help me find my life partner.
Year after year, after coming to Sabah, I would struggle with the question of “Is it time to leave, is it time to go back home to KL?” All my friends had left. But each time when I was about to submit my transfer letter, I would hear God’s voice telling me, “It’s not time yet, wait.” Albeit reluctantly, I would wait.
When you get to know me, you will find that I’m an introvert. My circle of friends is small and are close; I do not open up to many new people. Hence throughout the waiting period, God broke and built me up, again and again, like clay in the potter’s hands. Only when the time was right, did He show me who He had prepared for me as a life partner. My life partner was here, in Skyline! 😛
Dawn prayer holds a special place in my heart because it was in this season when we started our courtship four years ago. I remember telling my now husband that before I said “Yes” to going out on a date with him, we needed to fast and pray, until he met with my parents on the 31st of August. The rest, as they say, was history. History that God has written way before I was born. And He has indeed been faithful.
One of the other items that I placed in the prayer bowl is that I will do what God wants, go wherever He wants me to go. My season here in Sabah is coming to a pause, and though I don’t know where I’ll be heading, or what I’ll be doing, I know that God is faithful; His plans are good, and His promises will never fail.
“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen. This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.” Isaiah 43:18-21 NKJV
Indeed God will do a new thing! Waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. And He is faithful.
